About the exhibition

Museums in Motion: ICOM 80 Years is a three-part digital anniversary exhibition unfolding across 2026.

The digital exhibition marks ICOM’s 80th Anniversary by exploring how the organisation—and the global museum sector—has evolved over eight decades. It combines historical reflection, datadriven storytelling, and forwardlooking perspectives, showcasing ICOM’s transformative role as a global network and its relevance in shaping the future of museums.

The exhibition is structured into three thematic chapters, each highlighting a different dimension of ICOM’s impact. The first chapter launched on the opening day of the Annual Meetings; the second chapter will be launched in September and the third in November; celebrating the anniversary date 16th of November.
